Mr Pathak passed matriculation in the year 1979 from Netarhat School, obtaining silver medal. Passed IIT-JEE in first attempt and joined IIT Delhi. Completed five years integrated M.S Physics from IITD. He was all India topper of GATE 1985 with a percentile score of 99.89.Did M.Tech in energy studies from IITD with CGPA of 9.25 on a 10-point scale. Passed CSIR Fellowship test. Received research scholarship at IITD. He was also topper of research scholars in 1991.He was also the topper of the written test of NCRA-IUCAA (National Center for Radio astrophysics)-(Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics) research scholar’s selection test in 1993.
